Sarah wins Ladies RTV Challenge Shield
This month saw the Brooklyn Engineering Ladies RTV Challenge awarded for the first time since 2007. The event was run in conjunction with the Hook End Summer Rally RTV and is awarded to the lowest scoring lady in RTV. Sarah Duffet walked away with top honours, but it was touch and go all day with Anne Woods scores only 2 off the pace until the final sections sealed the win for Sarah.
Sharp shooting at the Summer Rally
Club members were treated to a full itinerary of events at the August Bank Holiday Rally. Hosted by Mark Ambler at Hook End near Pangbourne. Mark and the committee arranged a clay pigeon shoot, 6 section night trail, BBQ, Tyro and RTV. The night trial was interesting considering the sections were set out in the woods, but competitors did well using only factory fitted lights to navigate sections marked with glow sticks. Jack Dewdney had a storming day on the RTV with a very respectable finish on 7 points. Hugh was close on his heels, but could not recover from a nasty 7 picked up on section 6. All in all a good days trailling which was made even more special by the late edition of the ladies, driving on mass for the Challenge Shield. The day was topped off with a fully catered BBQ for all at the event which included Julians green laning group famished after failing to find any wild game on the sweeping plains of Berkshire. For a full run down check out the scores and pictures.

MSA COMPETITION LICENCES REQUIRED FOR WINCH/CHALLENGE/PUNCH EVENTS
We have some breaking news from the MSA which will have an effect on our planned half RTV/half winch day and on our members wishing to enter the Mike Wolfe Challenge. A recent addition to the MSA rules regarding winch/challenge/punch events requires all ‘drivers’ wishing to participate to be the holder of an MSA competition licence. This will require ‘drivers’ to complete an MSA licence application form and send this along with a fee to the MSA. So if you are planning to take part in the Mike Wolfe Challenge (as a driver) YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE THE LICENCE, no licence will result in you not being able to take part in the event. A passenger assisting a driver with navigation and winch operation and not ‘co-driving’ need not be a licence holder. You can apply for the licence ‘on-line’ or download an application form on the MSA web site If you wish to apply on-line you will have to register yourself with the MSA. In each instance the licence you require is a ‘Cross Country non-race Clubman’ at £23 per year.
Hants & Berks is now on facebook!
We have created a facebook 'Group' for the club on the popular community
web site facebook.
The site gives anyone (who becomes a member of the group) the ability to
up load photos and videos, to leave comments and start/participate in discussions.
The group is called: Hants & Berks

Whilst this web site will remain our primary online presence we consider
the facebook site to offer an informal area where our members can message
other members and chat as they see fit...
Team HBLRO on tour
Just after the dust had settled on the national, team HBLRO were off again
on their travels. This time venturing into Wales for a 2 day charity RTV.
The event is an annual interclub hosted by Corwall & Devon LRC and kindly
looked after this year by the Wye & Welsh LRC. The club was up against tough
competition from Somerset and Wilts, Cornwall and Devon and Southern to
name a few. A mixed bag of results from some very deceiving sections that
could of done with a sat nav they were so long. Thanks to Murray and the
team over at Wye and Welsh for hosting an excellent 2 day trial that was
very much in the spirit of the Cornwall and Devon events.
Our teams came 4th and 12th overall. For a full run down check out the scores
and pictures.
Caught on Camera
Karen Hooper currently has a very extensive library of photos of many of our club members and is happy to send these out on disc on application. If you are interested please email Steve Aston (steve.aston@hbro.co.uk) with your name, full postal address and vehicle registration number.
Club secures a new site to the North of Hampshire
On the weekend of the 13th June the club ran a trail at a new site near Kingsclere. It was a little different to the ground we are used to comprising more loose spoil and steep drops. Steve Aston and a small team of helpers including Elton Jonsson, Ian Parker, Matt Hewitt, Mark Ambler and Kevin Wood gave up their Saturday to devise an interesting trial. The site is small, but the sections were setup to allow them to be reversed for the afternoon session. Look our for Kingsclere in next years calender. A full run down of results the are now posted here.. For action from the event and the winners take a look at the pictures.
Top honours at the 2010 National
The Club scooped a number of awards at this years National Rally including 4 class placings and 4 of the annual ALRC Trophies. Probably the best ever result for HBLRO at national competition level. I have posted the scores based on the information available. Full results to follow along with pictures from the weekends events.
